One Little Lady

One Little Lady

In her mind a forest she did see,
So one little lady planted a tree,

She told a few others but they were quite glum,
They said, “That’s too hard, don’t be silly and dumb!”

But in her own mind a forest she did see,
So one little lady planted a tree,

She dreamt of the forest while sleeping at night,
And inside her mind the vision got bright,

Each day she continued and planted a tree,
And worked at her goal with passion and glee,

Sometimes it would rain but she would not pause,
For inside her heart she believed in her cause,

One day some small children learned of her plan,
And excitedly towards her they skipped, walked and ran,

“Oh can we join in?” They said with a plea,
“Like you, we would love to each plant a tree,”

“Of course,” said the lady with a bright happy grin,
“Go right ahead, come and join in!”

So they worked with the lady in joy and delight,
And inside their minds the vision got bright,

Several more children joined in the fun,
Digging and planting…much work got done!

A kind man dropped by with 500 new trees,
He said, “here’s a gift...I’ll charge you no fees!”

Another kind soul with bright clothes and beads,
Said, “Here my dear friends, I’ll give you these seeds!”

Yet more people joined and came to donate,
So the forest grew up at a magical rate!

Beautiful creatures and colourful birds,
Came to the forest in flocks, droves and herds,

The forest was vibrant, lush and alive,
With flowers, frogs and a buzzing bee-hive!

Children would come and play hide-and-seek,
And families would camp for days or a week,

The forest got known as wonder and a glory,
For a great many people spoke of the story,

And all of this happened, I hope you now see,
Because of one lady who planted a tree…

Choices

Choices

Toxic, poisoned, deadly land,
Dusty grey, polluted sand.

Sickness, pain, disease, hurt,
Rats and vermin prowl the dirt.

Pollution, concrete, obscured light,
Resource scarce, compete and fight.

Destruction, violence, sorrow, tears,
Innocent children robbed of years.

Terror, fear, blame and battle,
Media control, herd the cattle!

Lost childhood, deep regret,
Adults stuck, mounting debt,

Barren, empty, soulless gloom,
Heavy burdens, sense of doom.

Choices

Learning, caring, helping, growing,
Worthy life, higher knowing.

Fresh air, seasons, nature, green,
Pristine lakes, oceans clean.

Healthy, wholesome, natural food,
Creative kids, balanced mood.

Vibrant colours, creatures, birds,
Kind, calm people, loving words.

Work together, nurture skills,
Fulfil potential, inner thrills.

Self response, united voices,
Bigger picture, actions, choices,

Optimism, seeking beauty,
Life and planet, sense of duty.

Surrender

A thunderous storm across the land tore,
And life as she knew it existed no more,

Rain, sleet and hail and many a gust,
Left only sad piles of rubble and dust,

Nothing remained, nothing excused,
All that she owned…stolen, abused.

A wave of deep sadness that few ever feel,
Swept over her body -her breath it did steal,

Collapsing in silence, tears in each eye,
Thoughts of despair, questions of why?

Deepening pain, void black and vast,
Memories of life, thoughts of her past,

Empty and hollow, now beyond crying,
Candle inside shrinking and dying,

“Please, God in Heaven, take me away,”
No other words could she murmur or say,

But soul would not leave, give up, depart,
So body kept breathing and beating her heart,

Passing of time, wind, sun and rain,
Seasons, surrender, easing of pain,

Releasing of past and all that had bound,
In her dark place, a new strength was found.

Letting go further, love filled her heart,
Colours got brighter, she chose a new start,

Moments of joy, beauty so great,
Perhaps this was part of some greater fate?

Radiance, wonder, amaze, love and awe,
Magnificent world is what she now saw,

Smiling at thoughts of all that had mattered,
Empty, fake, needy…her illusion had shattered!

Higher dimension, free from what pained,
Everything lost…and infinity gained…

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas people are dying
Babies are starving, hurting and crying,

Mothers are weeping, no food to eat,
Too sick to stand, swollen bruised feet,

Children are sold, their bodies abused,
Then left for the trash, empty and used,

Another young boy fights with a gun,
His childhood lost...he never knew fun,

‘Hospital’ tents are full of the pained,
Aroma of death, cries from the maimed,

A teenager sits all alone in a park,
Drugs numb her pain and fear of the dark,

Majestic forests are robbed, burned and stumped,
Our oceans and rivers have more toxins dumped,

Destruction, disease, more creatures die,
Famine and war…a hole in the sky!!!

Merry Christmas…

While this poem spells problems and gloom,
And perhaps leaves you with feelings of doom,

READ ON my friend, for more is meant,
-HELPING OUR WORLD IS MY INTENT,

For A MASSIVE GREAT CHANGE is what we will see,
If, you like me, RESPOND to this plea,

So JOIN IN the cause… For much we can do,
Because of the sum…ONE PLUS ONE EQUALS TWO…

Just make A FEW CHANGES, alter your way,
Build a few habits into your day…

DONATE, re-use, and recycle your trash,
Think, about how you spend all your cash,

Avoid, all you can, sweat-shop made,
Purchase instead products ‘Fair-Trade,’

Sponsor a forest or plant a new tree,
CAMPAIGN so caged creatures can be set free,

DEMAND that our leaders ‘PULL THEIR THUMBS OUT!’
-REMEMBER IN NUMBERS WE DO HAVE GREAT clout!

Stop for a moment, THINK, take a pause,
What strikes a chord? Make this your cause,

Pursue this new mission with PURPOSE and PASSION,
Never give in, or eagerness ration,

So GO FOR IT friend, FOCUS, BELEIVE,
A UNITED NEW WORLD WE CAN ALL ACHIEVE!

Thank you for listening and BUILDING WORLD HOPE,
-And not being a number, who gives in to mope,

I send you much LOVE, JOY and DELIGHT,
And wish that YOUR FUTURE IS HEALTHY and BRIGHT.

Merry Christmas,
Hazel Trudeau
